NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION AND PROPOSED ITINERARY

Wouldn't you enjoy a five day Ford driving tour of southern New Mexico this fall? Especially if the tour starts with a BANG and ends underground? The BANG refers to the Trinity Site where, over 70 years ago, the first atomic bomb testing occurred.  The Trinity Site is open to the public only two days a year and our tour will take advantage of one of those days.  The five-day tour will end at Carlsbad Caverns, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.  The self-guided Caverns tour explores the fascinating underground structures along well-marked trails, and points out beautiful, eerie, and huge workings of Mother Nature. It is an experience you will remember for the rest of your life.

In between, tourers will be treated to southern New Mexico's finest historical sites and natural landscapes. These include a fine air and space museum in Alamogordo, the much-storied UFO
/ Alien museum in Roswell, a fantastic observatory in Sunspot, Billy the Kid historical sites, Fort Stanton, charming mountain towns, great scenery, and much more.

The tour will originate on Friday evening, October 5, 2018, in Socorro, New Mexico (about 85 miles south of Albuquerque), and wrap up with a banquet on Wednesday evening, October 10, near Carlsbad. The weather in October is generally ideal for old car touring, with an anticipated high of 78 degrees in Carlsbad and low of 36 degrees in the mountain town of Ruidoso. The food to be sampled along the route includes the best Mexican specialties on the planet.  Great company, great surroundings, and great old Fords promise to make this tour highly enjoyable.

We hope you will join the Tumbleweed Regional Group in participating. For further information and details, please contact Beth Jackson, 8322 Calle Picaflor NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87120-3104.  Phone number 505 908-7565.  Email JBJaxun@gmail.com
