January 2nd Meeting

Meeting is at 7pm, Tuesday, January 2nd, at North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center, 7600 Carmel NE.  The program will be presented by Joe Abbin, Resource Material for Repairing and Servicing Your V-8.

Ford never produced a service manual for pre-1949 Fords but they did publish service bulletins and there were commercial manuals available. There will be examples of the materials published by Ford and others and the pros and cons of each will be presented at the meeting. Examples of some will be available as prizes for the raffle! Wow! Today, a major resource for service info is the internet. Be there and find out all about it. Also, feel free to bring or present your own sources for show and tell.

2024 January President’s Message – Joe Abbin

Happy New Year fellow V-8 fans! We had a great Christmas party and will start right off this year on January 2 for our first meeting at our current meeting place, the North Domingo Baca Multi-generational Center. See announcement elsewhere in this newsletter.

The board had two very productive meetings last year where we gathered all program and tour suggestions for 2024 for presentation to you, our membership to vote on. Your votes will help us all determine the events that you want and will support. Please review the following programs and tour suggestions and vote on your top 10 favorites in both categories. You can submit your choices by email to me at roadrunnerengr@msn.com or bring your list to the meetings. Your list might look like 1,2,7,9, etc. for the programs and b,d,f, etc. for the tours. We aim to have fun and get smarter.

Minutes from the December 5th Board Meeting

There were 12 of us in attendance. Jeff & Beth had the longest drive to get to the meeting 😊 Outgoing president Chris and incoming president Joe Abbin ran the meeting. Joe provided a list of potential programs and speakers for the meetings. On the back was a list of potential tours and/or after breakfast outing locations. Joe suggested putting the list in the newsletter and having members pick their top 5. It was later switched to just having board members send their top 10 to Joe and Chris. The idea is to have about 50% auto related programs and 50% general interest. Joe would like to invite the Model T and Model A clubs to join us at our meetings, especially when we have auto related programs that might be of interest to them. We went around the table and there were several items added to each list. Joe said he would send out an updated list for board members to respond to. Beth stated that she needs articles for the newsletter. Right now, she is borrowing articles from other newsletters. Joe mentioned that he would like nice articles in the newsletter promoting the upcoming programs. Beth said for that to happen, whoever oversees that program needs to send her a write-up and perhaps a picture. Jeff mentioned that he would like to continue something he did a few years back and do monthly write ups about new club members. He asked Joe for a little bit of time during the January meeting to present this idea. Chris was asked to talk to the meeting venue about what equipment would be needed to use their projector equipment for presentations. The board decided on presentation topics for January through March as well as breakfast locations for those months. Joe also mentioned that he would like to have another board meeting around February but will let us know.
