July 5th CLUB MEETING PRESENTATION

The July 5th meeting will be held at the North Domingo Baca Mutigenerational Center, 7600 Carmel NE, at 7pm.  Kristy Copeland from Jackson Equipment, formerly with J and B Radiator, will talk about radiator repair.  Although no longer in the radiator business, Kristy is very familiar with older radiators.  Many of us used her services in the past.   In addition to a short presentation Kristy will answer questions.   She also has a large supply of used radiator parts and tanks that she needs to sell.   There are probably some rare finds as she has been salvaging radiators for many years.

July 4th Parade and Azevedo BBQ

The 4th of July parade will start at 10 AM, cars are to line up at 9:15 AM at Corrales Elementary.  After the parade, the Azevedo's are hosting a BBQ w/ hot dogs and hamburgers and lemonade.  Bring your favorite side dish, salad or dessert!  Families welcome, bring your swim suits.  Don’t forget your chairs, sunscreen, bottled water and hats.  If you try coming north on Corrales Rd after about 9 AM it will be closed around the post office.  Use the following back route to the Azevedo's: Turn east on Meadowlark (just before the service station), go to the end and turn left on the dirt road, make sure the ditch is on your left, continue north on the dirt road all the way to Hansen Rd and then turn right to 209 Hansen Rd.

President’s Message for July 2022                              Chris Joiner

Wow, it’s hard to believe we are to the seventh month of the year. Finally, after 78 days without precipitation we are getting some rain. Although our June meeting was small, we still got to enjoy Joe’s slide show on the Roadster show.  Our breakfast at the Range was a hit, as we had 12 in attendance. That’s always a winner. I look forward to the 4th of July, with a parade and barbecue in Corrales. I also look forward to another meeting and breakfast. We’re going to have a quick board meeting at 6pm before our regularly scheduled meeting on July 5th.  Hopefully, in the months to come we can have more gatherings and drive our cars. Be safe and stay cool!

Minutes of the June 7th, 2022 Meeting

President Chris called the meeting to order.  There were 11 present, including guest Bill and Steve Kehrer,  father and son, who met someone from the club at a car show in Corrales. Treasurer Amy reported that the club is sound financially.  Happy Birthday wishes were extended to Debbie McLain, Joe Baird, and Vern Willan.  Anniversary wishes were to Larry and Pat Bost.  Thanks to Don Gutierrez for providing refreshments.

Joe Abbin reported that the Memorial Day Club picnic at the Jacksons was a successful location.  $46 was earned from the 50/50 raffle.  Expenses were $68.18.  Everyone had a good time.  Joyce was not present to give a NM Car Council report.  Joe Abbin will be doing a slide show presentation on the Roadster Show after refreshments and raffle.

Joe reported that he was contacted by Craig Vencil of the New Mexico State Fair.  Craig said that if the club only has 4 entries again this year that we will be dropped.  We need to have a larger attendance to fill up the area held aside for us.  That will be on September 11th this year.

The monthly breakfast will be held on June 11th at 8:30 am at the Range near Cottonwood Mall.  Our next club meeting will be Tuesday, July 5 at 7pm at this same location.  Jeff is working on getting a speaker.

The raffle was held, refreshments enjoyed and all enjoyed Joe’s slides from the National Roadster Show.

JOKES OF THE MONTH

Remember if you lose a sock in the dryer, it comes back as a Tupperware lid that doesn’t fit any of your containers.

My luck is like a bald guy who just won a comb.

I remember being able to get up without making sound effects.

If you’re sitting in public and a stranger takes the seat next to you, just stare straight ahead and say, „Did you bring the money?“

When you ask me what I am doing today, and I say „nothing“, it does not mean I am free.  It means I am doing nothing.
