Jeff Jackson
Ralph Jeffrey Jackson and Fords. Jeff went to elementary school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In fact, he and Joe Abbin probably crossed paths at Our Lady of Fatima at some point. Jeff’s dad moved the family to Grants, New Mexico in 1967 which was fateful for the eventual meeting with Beth. Jeff played basketball and football but admits his talents were more academic than physical. His first engine rebuild was a Flathead-a 1952 6-cylinder Plymouth. It was an engine for his dune buggy. Also, it is when he learned all cranks are not the same. His first real car was a 1966 Fairlane GTA.
Jeff met Beth via her brother, who asked Jeff to help him fix a 1962 Falcon.
Jeff dated Beth in high school and then he went to Notre Dame to college. He quickly decided it wasn’t right for him. He returned to UNM, dated Beth and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
Jeff joined Shell Oil Research and Development to work on fuel. 1975 was first year for catalytic converters and the oil companies were working hard to find blends for those engines. After several assignments with Shell US, Jeff joined Royal Dutch Shell. Though he remained living in the US his 15 years with Royal Dutch Shell saw lots of international travel. After retiring Jeff and Beth moved back to Albuquerque and he began serious car collecting, in fact too much according to most folks. He also ran into Max Glover. Max forced us to go to a Tumbleweed club meeting and the rest is history.
