Joe Abbin's yearly and world famous New Year's Day Posole Party
Kind of a duke's mixture of people including two of my high school classmates, neighbors, relatives, former in-laws, recent or former members of Over the Hill Gang, Route 66 Rodders, EF V-8, even from the Rebels (gone since 1961), the police department, a dog in a sweater, blah-blah. No fights, falls or food poisoning. I did find an unclaimed Presbyterian "First Alert" button/transmitter....hope they didn't need it going home.
The "author's expo" in the garage was well attended. Dale Schafer managed the Albuquerque Dragway from 1964-1974 and self-published a history that he is still expanding, Art Sena is doing a history of NM street car clubs and Dave Straub is doing a history of the hot rod car culture in Albuquerque during his teen and early adult years .....he's up to 300 pages with 500 photos! My thanks to them for sharing.
It was a nuthouse but it all seemed to work somehow. Kathleen was definitely on her game at the cider concession, preventing certain dehydration from all the BS. Glad you brought Helen and Mary Ann. You were smoothly swimming through the crowd and appeared to be running for office. I took some photos. See below.
I love the old service station photos. I worked in a Conoco, a Horn and an EL Paso station when I was in high school....some of my funnest memories.
All the best for the new Year,
