President’s Message for March 2023 Chris Joiner
Well, hard to believe March is here already! I’m hoping the weather warms up soon so we can get our cars out and have some fun. 2023 is shaping up to be a great year. I’m really looking forward to all the club programs that our board is hard at work putting together. They all sound very interesting. I’m also pretty excited for the trip to Las Cruces in June. The Globo Rojo Museum there is really something to see.
Minutes of the February 7th Meeting
The meeting was called to order by President Chris. There were 14 members in attendance and two guests…our speaker Danny and Steve Schulties. Chris welcomed all and made sure everyone had received the newsletter. Treasurer Amy reported that there haven’t been any expenses so far but that we are paying for a brick in memory of Lou Gorenz. Amy mentioned that we are still collecting dues and are only missing them from a few people. Chris offered several birthday and anniversary greetings. Thanks to the Clements for providing refreshments this evening. The refreshment signup sheet was then passed around. There were no corrections or additions to the January meeting minutes. Chris mentioned for the board members to look at the tentative calendar in the newsletter and if there is a speaker that they suggested that they should confirm them for the appropriate dates. Joe suggested doing the confirming via email to board members. Joyce pointed out that July 4 falls on a Tuesday. We will have our meeting on the second Tuesday that month. Chris announced that donations for the raffle are always welcome. Tonight’s donations included a pillow Beth made, some stained-glass magnets Jackie made, and some jelly George made. When old business was mentioned, Joe Abbin mentioned going to the auctions this past month. Joe Warren also commended our club and listed all the people who have helped him get his car where is it is today. He was very appreciative and said it takes a village. Chris announced that the club breakfast this month will be at Vic’s Daily Café on Osuna on Saturday 2/11, then afterwards we will go to the Unser Racing Museum. Chris also announced that our next club meeting will be on March 7th, 7pm at North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center. Don with Starters & Generators of NM will have a presentation for us that evening. Chris mentioned that the plans for the March breakfast on 3/11 are still in the works and an email will be sent out when they are confirmed. Chris talked about the trip to Las Cruces and the Globo Rojo Museum in June. Joe did not provide a crime report as he was saving time for the raffle and presentation. As far as new business, the Grand National meet in Dearborn was mentioned. Bob Payne would like to go, but was wondering if anyone else had interest. Steve Schulties announced that the Jay Hertz collection no longer exists. The new owner of the buildings took over last week and some of the cars will be available at auction in Auburn sometime in April. George brought some show and tell items from his dad’s garage. One was a tool for punching holes in metal and the other was some sort of gauge with ball bearings in it. We had refreshments and the raffle. Danny gave a very informative presentation on the different types of auto paint, how robots apply the paint differently than people, and how much one could be looking at to do a paint job. It was quite interesting.

JOKE OF THE MONTH
Husband: My wife is missing. She went shopping yesterday and has not come home!
Sheriff: Height?
Husband: I’m not sure. A little over five-feet tall.
Sheriff: Weight?
Husband: Don’t know. Not slim, not really fat.
Sheriff: Color of eyes?
Husband: Sort of brown I think. Never really noticed.
Sheriff: Color of hair?
Husband: Changes a couple times a year. Maybe dark brown now. I don’t know exactly.
Sheriff: What was she wearing?
Husband: Could have been pants, or maybe a skirt or shorts. I don’t know exactly.
Sheriff: What kind of car did she go in?
Husband: She went in my truck.
Sheriff: What kind of truck was it?
Husband: A 2016 pearl white Ram Limited 4x4 with 6.4l Hemi V8 engine ordered with the Ram Box bar and fridge option, led lighting, back up and front camera, Moose hide leather heated and cooled seats, climate-controlled air conditioning. It has a custom matching white cover for the bed, Weather Tech floor mats, Trailer package with gold hitch, sunroof, DVD with full GPS navigation, satellite radio, Cobra 75 WX ST 40-channel CB radio, six cup holders, 3 USB ports, and 4 power outlets. I added special alloy wheels and off-road Toyo tires. It has custom retracting running boards and under-glow wheel well lighting. At this point the husband started choking up.
Sheriff: Take it easy sir, we’ll find your truck!!!
