January 6th Meeting – Vapor Lock
Vapor lock (fuel starvation) is a flathead Ford trademark due to the high placement of the fuel pump far away from the gas tank and situated in a hot area on an engine that typically runs on the hot side. In addition, modern fuel blends have different vaporization characteristics than those available in the day. These factors result in hard starting and erratic operation of our flathead Fords.
This month’s program will explore the options available to cure the flathead Ford vapor lock problems and make flathead touring more fun! Joe Abbin will be doing the honors.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, January 6th, 7pm at North Domingo Baca Multigenerational Center, 7600 Carmel NE. If you have any items appropriate for the raffle, please bring them.

We invite club members and friends to meet for breakfast on Saturday, January 10th, at 8:30 am at Weck’s, 10131 Coors Blvd. NW, in front of Harbor Freight. Let’s get together!

2026 January President’s Message – Jeff Jackson
Welcome to 2026, fellow flatheaders. I woke up this morning and realized again that today is the first day of the rest of my life – yours also. A little philosophical but who cares. Let’s make 2026 a banner year again for our car club. We start out with Joe Abbin providing insight into vapor lock on our early Fords. Who among us hasn’t had a vapor lock issue?
The directors last year developed a nice list of potential topics for our monthly meetings. We will discuss the potential topics at our January meeting. You can review them as they are listed later in this newsletter. Then the board will meet on Thursday, January 8th, to firm up some programs and activities.
Personally, I’d like to see more participation in the Saturday breakfasts. They provide an opportunity to discuss issues and enjoy each other’s company. Also this year, let’s plan an overnight trip to somewhere not too far from home so we can have time to socialize in the evening and drive our cars on some backroads.
Jokes of the Month
I may not have lost all my marbles yet, but there is a small hole in the bag somewhere.
My super power is holding onto junk for years and throwing it away a week before I need it.
Do you ever feel like your body’s “check engine” light has been on and you’re still driving it like “nah, it’ll be fine”?
My son asked if a punch bowl is where you keep the names of people you want to punch. I usually keep them in my head, but; storing them in decorative crystal seems really classy.
The biggest lie I tell myself is “I don’t need to write that down, I’ll remember it.”
Saw a store that has a sign that reads, “We treat you like family!” Yup, NOT going in there.
I don’t know how to use TikTok, but I can write in cursive, do long division and tell time on clocks with hands . . .so there’s that.
You think you know stress? When I grew up, if you missed a TV show you just missed it. Forever.
Elementary kids have IPhones. When I was a kid, I put glue on my hands just so I could peel it off when it dried.
I’m in a Wal-Mart parking lot watching a woman who can’t remember where she parked. Every time she holds her remote in the air, I honk my horn.
Someone just honked to get me out of my parking spot faster, so now I have to sit here until both of us are dead.
