February 2019
Max Glover is our member of the month. Max was born in Wooster, Arkansas a while back. Max lived in many places including Texas where he worked in the oil field and in California. Max came to New Mexico in 1967 from California.
Max has owned several flatheads. His first was a 1940 Ford but his favorite was a 1940 Mercury Sedan Coupe. He reminisced that his 1940 Merc was a real beauty. Another of Max’s favorite cars was a 1957 Ford Ranchero. He explained that a wife and kids made the two door cars and especially the Ranchero ‘impractical’. Max currently has a very nice 1941 Ford convertible and a pretty 1940 Mercury.
Max’s wife Johanne likes cars also, but he also notes her priorities are Max, kids, church, friends then cars in roughly that order. Max did say Johanne really enjoys club events.
Max joined the V8 club in about 1995 about the same time he married Johanne. He is an active recruiter for the club. Beth and I attest to that fact. We were looking at garage sales when we first stopped to see Max’s stuff and before we knew it he had grabbed us by the ears and taken us to our first Tumbleweed Club meeting.
Max is normally active in the September swap meets but has slowed down some in the last year. Say howdy to Max as the February member of the month.
